GET IT RIGHT AT THE SOURCE
MICROPHONE PREAMP WITH DE-ESSER
Get the recording right from the start. The A1 is a precise and natural-sounding microphone and line preamp, paired with a unique digitally-controlled de-esser.

With Lundahl transformers on both the input and output, the A1 delivers enough gain to handle any recording situation, with low noise, low distortion, and beautifully wide frequency bandwidth. Use it with any quality rack in the API 500-series format.

PRISTINE PREAMP
The A1 microphone pre-amplifier stage uses a discrete, class A design with a current-feedback amplifier architecture. The preamp is transformer balanced both on the input and on the output.

Use it with any type of microphone and get up to 60 dB of clean gain with low distortion and wide bandwidth.

UNIQUE DE-ESSER
The unique de-esser in the A1 delivers smooth and natural sibilance reduction. It allows you to capture polished voice recordings right at the source, whether you are recording singing or speech.

The de-esser is very easy to set. It is digitally controlled and uses a multiplying D/A converter running at 500 kHz sample rate as the variable gain element. This reduces noise compared to other solutions and enables precision control of the de-esser.

Additional features
The preamp has a -24 dB pad for line-level sources. It also has a low-cut filter which can be set to 40 or 80 Hz. The 48V phantom power is clean, precise, and stable.

The de-esser can also be used on line-level sources, to for example reduce sibilance on an existing recording. Two A1 modules can be side-chain linked for stereo operation of the de-esser.
