AVID HIFI Acutus DARK Limited Edition Turntable

The Acutus DARK™ Limited Edition, was born in direct response to customers around the world requesting a black finish.

In meeting this demand we have crafted the DARK Limited Edition, of which only a limited number of pieces will be manufactured.

This turntable brings a stealth like appearance to the distinctive Acutus model, imposing yet reserved, free from any unwanted frills.

Each piece has its Limited-edition number machined into the main chassis, clearly visible for all to see.

The DARK version is limited to 100 pieces but also available are 20 DARK Reference and 10 DARK Reference Mono versions.

In the same fashion, each Reference and Reference Mono has its Limited-Edition number machined into the main chassis.

Essentially this turntable shares almost all the design aspects with the, world famous Acutus (SP) with a few subtle differences.

For the first time in history this much revered design is now available in matte black. It still carries the same 10KG metal platter driven by twin drive belts which are propelled by our legendary hand built 140mNm motor, powered by our DSP controlled, Variable speed PSU calibrated to each motor ensuring perfect pitch and stability control.

The same fully adjustable three-point suspension mechanism is employed to further isolate the Acutus DARK™ Limited Edition from all outside interference whilst allowing easy fine tuning for a perfect setup.

On top of this is our unique single point thrust bearing, designed to exacting tolerances to direct bad vibrations and energy away from the playing surface into the sub-chassis. This ensures further, in combination with our exclusive single stage clamp that only the good vibrations make it to the cartridge.

Vibration caused by the stylus during playback is transmitted to the subchassis directly through our newly revised unique single point bearing and not absorbed into the platter. This is achieved using a unique matting material and clamping system. External vibrations are isolated by a unique variable frequency suspension system, conveniently adjustable from above.

A purpose designed power supply, incorporating our latest DSP signal generation makes for accurate speed settings. This coupled to a unique hand made motor, 10 times more powerful than normally used, drives a massive 10Kg platter with our new twin belt drive system making for excellent speed stability and sonic pictures of sound.
